Research Center for Civilizational and Social Studies

This research center initially started its activities under the name of the Center for Social and Civilizational Studies with two research departments including “Civilizational Studies” and “Cultural and Social Studies” in 2016. The research of the Civilizational Studies Department continues in the fields of theoretical and philosophical discussions on civilization, comparative studies (Western studies) of civilization, and strategic studies of civilization. The Cultural and Social Studies Department, in addition to continuing the center’s previous projects, initiated new projects with new missions on topics such as cultural aid, social studies of religion and clergy, and religion and cyberspace. With the approval and addition of the Social Justice Department to the Center for Social and Civilizational Studies in 2020, the center was upgraded to the Research Center for Civilizational and Social Studies.

Mission
To provide research-strategic support to strengthen the presence of religion in the individual and social lives of contemporary Iran, addressing the theoretical needs of elites and academic centers, and the strategic needs of policymakers and governmental and religious institutions.

Objectives
1. Conducting theoretical and strategic studies based on Islamic theories in the social and civilizational domains.
2. Identifying, analyzing, and monitoring the religious conditions of society and reflecting these findings to research centers, cultural institutions, and decision-making authorities of the system.
3. Understanding and examining the social and civilizational position of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the future transformations of society.
4. Conducting pathological studies in the fields of cultural, social, and civilizational policymaking.
